May Favorites

So…. Been a while. (My computer is acting up so I’ve had to create this post on my phone… Fingers crossed folks!) As I posted before I was in NYC for a fast and furious little trip. I’ll post more things on that later. For today I’ve compiled my May Favorites.

1. A butterfly pencil pouch… I know, I already favorited a pencil pouch not so long ago… Well ladies and gents, I have way more then one and I like to switch them out. This one is great for traveling, it makes me remember I don’t need ALL the things. It also has a dog on it! (In case you were unable to tell from my drawing, that’s a dogs face, a frenchie to be precise). Got it off of and they sell exactly what it sounds like… Other stationary items too.

2. Looks like a pencil, but ah ha! It’s a pen! Got it in NYC at the Met gift shop. Sadly I didn’t get to go into The Met, nor any museum (gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh : ( just can’t have everything.) but I did stop and buy a silly pen pencil at the gift shop and I LOVE IT! My favorite thing I bought in NYC, besides some super yum meals. What can I say, I’m pretty easy to please.

3. A pleather backpack. It’s not the worlds greatest backpack I’ll be honest, it’s not real leather so in another week or so I suspect it will start to fall apart, but that’s what $30 on Amazon buys sometimes. That not so minor detail aside, I love this backpack because it reminds me of the one Meg Ryan has in the movie French Kiss (what you haven’t seen it??!!! I’m outraged! Go watch now!) It was handy and “fashionable” and I could stuff it under my airplane seat easy peasy. I’m planning on wearing the snot out of it.

4. My birthday cake!!!!! What’s not to love? It was ice cream cake and for maybe the first time ever someone had them put my name on it and make it look fancy (well, as fancy as an ice cream cake can look). No offense to the other lovely kind and generous gifts I was given, but that cake made me feel very special indeed, and all it took was someone spelling my name correctly on it really… Again, easy to please I guess.

5. Lastly, my plane tickets to NYC, I know I just said the cake was the best present, but actually it was probably these suckers; it’s really quite hard to decide. I got to go to NYC in January for a work thing and I only got one day to explore, I walked from Midtown to the Brooklyn Bridge and back (no subways, no taxis, just foot to pavement) and saw lots of things… But as some of you might know, there is soooooooo much to see. So, my mom let me go back as a birthday present! I didn’t get to do all the things I wanted or see all the things I had missed that one day, or go into any museums; which makes my heart a bit sad, I do love museum. But it was fun, and as I said earlier, more will be shared about my fast and furious travels in NYC, so stay tuned if you care to. Even though the mini trip wasn’t ALL ABOUT ME… I got to go, I got to see, and I am grateful.
So that’s it folks, my May favorites. What did you love this month? Anyone else celebrate a birthday? Let me know, if you’re feeling chatty enough to comment. Till next time!

April Favorites 2016

  1. Color block basket from Target: I have several of these baskets, I love them all, I use one to put all the dog food in, another to put all my scarves and mittens in… cause, Colorado, and another is sitting under my desk with randomness in tow. I got them on sale too, which just makes it all so much better.
  2. Winsor & Newton ink in Brick Red: I used it on a few doodles in my sketchbook, and I just like the color, it does well in a dip pen too.
  3. Jamie Oliver’s Comfort Food: I have yet to cook all the things in here, but, the ones I have cooked are very YUM!!! Especially the Moussaka… God I LOVE MOUSSAKA!! Moussaka is just an all the time any season favorite for me. I use Zucchini (or Courgette for you peeps that aren’t American and are fancy sounding.) instead of eggplant cause eggplant texture is very hit or miss with me, so I play it safe with some zucchs instead. Anyway, yeah, I love me some cook books, and this is a good one.
  4. Winsor & Newton Brushmarker in Soft Peach: I just love this color, it’s very happy and spring. The Winsor & Newton Brushmarkers do pretty good and they aren’t half as outrageously expensive as Copics, but it’s not refillable 😦 and the packaging isn’t my favorite, but it does a good job and this color is lovely.
  5. Frida Kahlo Paper clip: This is one of those Etsy planner accessory buys, and I don’t use it on paper often, but it does hang out above my desk on my “inspiration” board. It’s just Whimsy cute and makes me smile. I got it from LittleTaintedCactus on Etsy along with some Star Wars ones… and, yeah, I love stationary, I like Planners, I like pens and stickers, so I’m totally a sucker for cute paper clips.

And that’s April Favorites for you, there were so many things I could have included, but, I didn’t did I.

See you all tomorrow for another Monday Feeling!

March 2016 Favorites

So, I’ve been watching some Youtube, you know, as you do, and I quite enjoy watching peoples favorites of the month. So I thought I’d hop on the bandwagon and join in. So drum roll please…. here are my march favorites…

  1. This thing is like a decorative cup thinga-majig (just sound that one out, I made up the spelling cause I do what I want.) my Aunt gifted to me from Target. I have no idea what it’s true purpose is… but to me, it looks like an egg cup for ostrich eggs. It sits near my desk and I just enjoy pondering it’s uses.
  2. I’ve had this little mug for a long time, I think I got it off of ModCloth, but don’t quote me on that. I’m more of a dog person then cat person, mostly because I’m super allergic to cats (although they all want to sit in my lap and have me pet them, and I of course can’t deny them that, little cute fluff monsters). Any ways, I love this little cup, it’s quite small and dainty and just makes me happy to sip coffee or tea out of.
  3. This Pencil case I got off of Mochi Things, and it’s honestly just one of my all time favorite little bags, that Hello Yaha is sassy and I like it. It’s a relatively large bag, I use it as a pencil case; or rather a bag to carry my travel watercolor palette, brushes, pens, pencils… let’s just say art stuff, I use it to carry around my art stuff.
  4. The Molotow liquid masking pen is awesome, I know some people aren’t fans, but I think it’s cause it doesn’t work on all paper and if you don’t know that it can ruin things, or at least annoy you. In particular it’s not great on toothy watercolor papers. It’s best on smooth paper surfaces, and you don’t want to put too thick of a layer of it down. I use it in my Hobonichi and on smooth watercolor paper, such as the Hot pressed Canson Moulin du Roy paper. It works great on marker paper as well, again, smoother surfaces.
  5. Last but not least is this cell phone case I got off of Amazon, I like that it’s clear but has a little cute and whimsy. It’s not a super hard core case by any means, but I’ve dropped my phone and it’s protected it, so, it works for me. I don’t like bulky cases, sort of defeats the point of making phones slimmer if you then bulk it up with a case, but to each his/her own.

What were your favorites this month?
