Creating Cozy Ghosties

So I decided to make some clip art and digital paper to sell on Etsy, haven’t quite completed all the elements, but here’s a sneak peak of some of the bits and bobs…

Just a little Hello!

Hello blog people! I’m heading to Las Vegas in the morning for a trip with my favorite cousin (more like my¬†sister) so I thought I’d pop on here and say hello quickly… I’m hoping I’ll get a chance to draw on my mini vacation, maybe by the pool or something, although it’s supposed to be like 110 degrees which is¬†disgusting. Keep your fingers crossed though and hopefully, I’ll make some content for this here old blog of mine; might be skewed by consumption of alcohol, but content nonetheless. Until then, I’ll just leave this here…

Bye!

A life chat and memorial service

So, it’s been too long since I posted. I had to go to Seattle for almost two weeks earlier this month to take care of my mom who had shoulder surgery, I thought I’d have all sorts of time to blog and draw whilst she was in a pain killer induced sleep and recovered, I was very much wrong. My mother does not react the usual way to painkillers, ¬†oh no. Pain meds make her hyper and crazy. So, she didn’t sleep, neither did I. It was rough, but she’s doing much better now and soon she’ll really be feeling much much better. Anyways, I got home and had a birthday two days later. It was an ugh sorta birthday this year, and I just felt like I have accomplished very little for being at such as age. Oh, and I also got the privilege of going to the DMV to renew my driver’s license… and my present was getting the world’s ugliest worst drivers license photo, it’s soooooooooooo bad!! I have only shown the people at the bank because I had too, I don’t want anyone to see it, ever. Honestly, when I look at it, it doesn’t look like me, do I really look like that? Needless to say, sorta was a bummer, feeling gross about yourself on your birthday seems more profound than if it is just another Monday.¬†I really think it’s perfectly normal to feel you’ve let yourself down on your birthday some years, I’m alive and at least I feel still. Just means I have a whole year to see if I¬†can improve things. So, next birthday I can be like, ‘hey, I accomplished something this go around of the sun, yay me.’ and eat some cake.

But, you’re not here to hear me complain about trivial things unless you are, then I’ll check off that box for you and, you’re¬†welcome. Been a weird month.¬†What I really popped on here to say is that I finally made my Grump’s (Step Grandfather) memorial service invite and wanted to share it… so here it is:

His ashes have been hanging out with me since January (sounds a bit creepy, but, his birthday is July 4th, so had to wait till there were fireworks going off all over the country to send him off in proper style, like he deserves.) and I think he’ll be very glad to be down by the river next to family and friends.

I sketched this out in the old sketchbook and then finalized it on the Procreate app on my iPad with the apple pencil. Blanked out the pertinent information, but, wanted to share it just the same.

Thanks for letting me ramble on and on about my life, feels and some death and dying. Quite the post.

Exterior kick

I’m on an exterior drawing kick… or, I suppose you could call it an urban sketching kick, but, I don’t know… I didn’t really go out and find houses to draw, I went on Pinterest. Gotta love Pinterest.

Anyways, I decided to work with a limited pallet and used my warm grey copics, as well as my Copics in slate, brick white and brick beige. The rest of the colors are some new Kurecolor markers I just got, which I’m really liking… not refillable and as nice to hold in the hand as a Copic, but pretty damn nice. Dull Blue, Mustard and Blood Red are my favorite colors to use right now.

Well, without further ado, here’s three exteriors I done did draw, bet there will be more to come.

Bloody Mary

So, got some drink coasters, Rifle Paper Co Royal cocktail coasters to be exact and one is Bloody Mary… so I wanted to draw her. So, opened the sketchbook again and here it is…

The Copic Cast:                                          E000, E93, R17, RV10, B37, Bv29, BG57 and Y28

Used the Pilot G-Tec-C4 to line.

A Love Carving

Well, hello again so soon. This evening I was tinkering around with the old adobe illustrator, messing around doodling like I do; ¬†and I decided I wanted to create a¬†Valentines Day card for my grandparents, because they’re adorable and old and I just adore them.¬† I figured, I had two choices, I could go out and buy a card, or make one myself, and why wouldn’t I just make one myself, I could do that, you can do that, we all can do that! So, I’m sharing with you my card design for the old folks I love. It’s nothing fancy but it’s from the heart, and that’s what matters. Also, I kind of like it a bit.
